What is love?
Such a short word yet tagged with various definitions from different points-of-view.
During those elementary days where autographs and slambooks were the latest fads, the question 'What is love?' is often spotted.
WHAT IS LOVE?
Magical?
Mysterious?
Relationships?
Romance?
Blind?
Sadly, the concept of love is often misunderstood.
The media shapes our perception of this four-letter word. The movies we watch illustrate the various scenarios of love: rich guy meets poor girl, deadly handsome don of the house falls for the beautiful and innocent house maid, misunderstood girl catches the attention of a burly werewolf and sparkling vampire, etc. These situations often say one thing: JUST FOLLOW YOUR HEART.
'Just follow your heart'- a common saying in our world.
When you see that girl and you think she's the one, what's stopping you, bro? JUST FOLLOW YOU HEART!
When that guy you've known for three months bends on one knee and asks for your hand, why not say yes? JUST FOLLOW YOUR HEART!
But you see, there's more to than just following our hearts. In fact, the Bible has this to say about our hearts:
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
Jeremiah 17:9
Though the love stories in movies often have 'happily-ever-afters,' it's another case in real life. Most premature relationships don't last forever. They often end up in heartbreaks, disappointments and a life of regret.
SUPERFICIAL LOVE.
What this generation needs is a love that is rock solid....a love that would not disappoint and leave them hanging.
We need a LOVE REVOLUTION.
The superficial love most of us experience is of normal degree because we base our standards from the norm. When we involve ourselves in a revolution, we go against the flow. We dare to conform. We disengage from the norm. We become nonconformist to the normal view of love because let's face it- we all want to experience true love.
It's time for us to change the definition of love. Superficiality will not do.
A love that is pure and genuine is the real deal.
Want love that lasts forever?
