Real Men Follow God

What does it take to be a REAL MAN?
According to most movies we watch, a real man must posses the following:
1. Muscle-toned body (plus if you're tanned and you have triceps)
2. Husky voice that makes the women swoon when you talk
3. Death stare for other guys who mess with your pride
4. Love for alcohol and cigarettes (Hey, they make you look cool!)
5. A professional way with the ladies
The 'macho guys' are what we consider to be the legit versions of men. Weaklings simply cannot make the cut. Real men have to be strong, rowdy and basically on top of the world. Girls love them rugged and rude.
But if we're part of a love revolution, we think OTHERWISE.
Real men aren't the macho, rugged guys we see on TV.
They're much more than that.
" When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.
“I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said. “So be strong, act like a man.."
1 Kings 2:1-2
King David had every right to tell his son and successor Solomon to be a man. For one, he was the epitome of manhood. Before a man was to be hailed as king, he had to pass the qualities of the throne. He should be a warrior, therefore, he should be strong. He must be protective and possess excellent leadership skills. David had all of these and more. He was 'ruggedly handsome' and to top it all of, he was a MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART.
David, despite his flaws and falls, was THE man.
And he told Solomon: be strong and act like a man.
What does it take to be a REAL MAN?
Here are the three qualities boys should learn and girls should find when the right time comes:
1. Real men FOLLOW GOD
Your passion dictates your priorities. What drives you every single day will lead you to your direction.
Real men should be passionate about God. When God is their driving force, they automatically want to to do everything and anything to please their Master.
"If you love Me, keep my commands."
John 14:15
The norm dictates that guys should be rugged, aggressive, cocky and one who's always on the top. But God says that real men are those who love Him and plays by His rules.
God has commands for the men. If they are passionate for the Lord, they would do what He says. When the right time comes, girls should look for guys with hearts like this. Why? Because they are assured that these men would not play with their hearts and treat them with respect-- because God said so and it's in the Bible. If a guy loves God more than the girl, the girl is rest assured that he will obey his Father and that he will take care of her.
As early as now, young men should cultivate their relationship with the Big Man in the sky. So that they themselves would be legit big men in the right time at the right place.
2. Real men PRACTICE INTEGRITY.
It's hard to believe that guys admire their fellow males who play with the hearts with women. The saying 'Love em', leave em'' is the tagline most 'chickboys' carry in their lives. They believe that a guy who can score girls by tricking them with false promises is awesome...
When it's not.
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."
Luke 16:10
A real man is a man of integrity. A man who keeps his word is often trusted by others because they know that he is true to his promises. If a guy can be trusted with the little things in life such as not cheating in exams, paying the right amount for his purchases and such, then he could be trusted with the major factors such as bills, working honestly and caring genuinely for a girl.
Men, honor your commitments. What you say is what you do. Also, protect women's emotions. It's a fact that women are emotionally charged. So, rather than play around with their feelings and break their hearts, care for them as you would for a sister. Take care of them and their emotions.
3. Real men are PRAYERFULLY HUMBLE.
In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
"God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble."
1 Peter 5:5
Real men practice HUMILITY. Unlike those macho guys who like to topple on others and stand on top, real men are those who thinks higher of other than of themselves. They believe that life is not about them and they're not the biggest thing the world has ever seen. They are servant-leaders who know that their responsibility is to serve others.
When a married woman radiates a glowing effect, it's because her husband truly values her. Unfortunately, not every woman is blessed to have such marriage. Some of them are tied to men with severe pride and treat them like dirt. After the honeymoon phase and once the vitality of youth is gone, some men treat their wives like maids instead, causing them to look older than they are. But when a man steps down and values his wife, she reflects the humility and love he shows.
As early as now, men should be humble and learn to ask forgiveness in the smallest or biggest of matters. Learn to care for, protect and honor women.
Being male is a matter of birth. When you were born, the X and Y genes collaborated to form you. It provided you with the parts that name you as male.
But being a man is a matter of choice. And it's up to you, gentlemen, to decide what kind of men you would be in the future. Fake?
Or REAL?
